We Went Out to Find Which Cell Phone is Best!
Since my cell company has let us down on many occasions over the last 9 years, we are moving on. Wow! Did I say 9 years? How stupid could I have been? Economic times as they are and just being down right POed at them has left me wanting and my investigations and preparation for this day indicate that Tracfone 500 are the guys to compete with these days.
No I didn’t just say one day it is time to move, over the last few months I wanted to find out which cell phone is best.
So what makes a person become so obsessed with an EX cell phone carrier and being so mad as to order up a domain, and start blogging about which cell phone is best? Well it has been 9 years and here is my story.
It was like signing up for a Monty Python skit in the store I went to. The store that was out of the way, on a one way street, that you had to make a U turn on to get into. The store where a new batch of picture phones were delivered and the 8 salespeople and staff were playing with the new phones while I and several others stood in line waiting for them to finish their antics of taking pictures of each other and laughing and carrying on. I am all for fun at work and all, but Come On!
Adding insult to injury, when our phone broke last time, almost 2 years to the date of purchase and we needed them to replace it, the service clerk literally laughed at me and said I would have to buy a new phone and renew for another 2 years. It was definitely not the best cell phone.
Our ‘relationship’ with this company has been like a relationship between a snake handler and a snake. I really had to ask myself this time why bother with them? I have better things to spend my time on. Yes we had insurance. Yes we had a great plan. Yes we had bunch of other stuff with them.
But, we paid handsomely for that plan over the years. Close to the price of a car over $15,000.00 dollars. And when it came time for them to pull it together, well they didn’t. I should have then dropped them then like a hot potato. But no they “were the best cell phone company”. Don’t you believe that for a second.
Understanding how stupid that was, I could kick myself around the block OR I can find the best deal I can and share it with you. Hopefully you’ll avoid the Monty Python phone sales company and you’ll save some bucks too.
So I went on the hunt. As I’ve said before best is in the eye of the beholder. I was looking for a decent phone, some texting and a low price tag. You kind of know when you’re paying top dollar and receiving really bad service and no customer consideration that you’re overpaying for your product. But I’ve discovered that a customer PAYS WAY TOO MUCH and obviously a reseller MAKES WAY TOO MUCH COMMISSION, particularly as they’re not offering much in return.
After some investigation I have decided to go with Tracfone 500 and one of their prepaid cell phones plans. I am naming it the Best Prepaid Cell phone plan. It also happens to be the cheapest prepaid cell phone plan.
Yesterday online, I ordered the Tracfone 500 with double minutes for life and a prepaid minutes card, which will all be here on the 8th (today is the 5th). I purchased the Tracfone 500 and minute card, all for less than $50.00 and it should be good for a couple of months before refilling. I used to pay almost 3 times that every month for service!
I couldn’t pick up cell phone insurance (that’ll be a good blog – to see if anyone out there is offering some decent, cost effective, non-specific cell phone insurance), but my cell phone isn’t gold plated. and if I drop it, leave it somewhere or otherwise need another phone, I know I can go to almost anywhere and pick up a compatible phone for less then a 20 spot and be back in business by transferring my minutes, account and number.
(The one I had insured with the snake wasn’t gold plated either. In fact it was a $9.00 phone. $9.00 phone is an expression I use when I mean just the basics please).
The $50 online deal I did was for the Tracfone 500 and it provided an online saving of $8.00. I received double minutes for life and a 200 minute card which will double my time to 400 minutes. On this phone I will use about 70 minutes a month. SO this 50 dollar investment should last me about 5 months before buying another card.
And … I feel refreshed today. I got rid of my snake. Here’s my message to them: Can you hear me now?
Note: This Tracfone 500 could have been picked up at a big box store, but I’m still a little raw from my last encounter with them too. Online works for me.
Have a great day!
